This is my dad, Joe and his dog, Widetrack. Widetrack was a member of our family for about 15 years. This pic was taken in 1981. She died in 1987. Track was such great dog with such great instincts that my dad had to stop taking her to hunts. Many people wanted her, at any cost. My father was offered huge amounts of money for her. He would no sooner sell her than he would sell one of us kids! We woke up many a night to people coming into our yard to steal her. And many did succeed in stealing her. But she was a one man dog. When the people who stole her tried to hunt her, she'd just leave them and come home! This dog played a huge role in my life. All dogs I see or own now are judged by her standards. Not one of them will ever live up to my Track. She is sadly missed. My daughter is taking an interest in coon hunting now. She has a good ole redbone. We love to tell her stories about Widetrack and not a hunt goes by that dad and I don't stop and reflect, "Yup. That redbone's a good dog. But I sure miss Track"
